Analytics Project Engineer at Indao for two years, Gauthier Seleck explains why the success of a technical project comes down to trust with the client, illustrated by the project run with CoCeptio at Clinique Notre-Dame de Grâce.
Gauthier Seleck has been an Analytics Project Engineer at Indao for two years. With a dual degree in automation and industrial engineering, he brings both a technical and operational perspective to the projects he runs in the field.
The turning point: technique isn't enough
When Gauthier joined Indao, he shared a common belief: that a project's success is measured by the sophistication of the model delivered. Two years in the field changed his perspective. In his view, 80% of a project's success comes down to just 20% of the work. And that 20% is the relationship with the client.
In practice, this conviction translates into three principles he applies every day:
- Mutual transparency. A solid relationship allows for honest communication in both directions. Gauthier doesn't hesitate to say no to an overly complex request and to propose a realistic alternative rather than overpromising, a condition, he says, for identifying the client's real need, which is often harder to pin down than it seems.
- The power of reassurance. Beyond the numbers, a client needs to feel supported. Gauthier systematically attends client meetings with one or two colleagues, to show that a full team stands behind every project.
- Acceptance and mutual support. A relationship of trust creates room to maneuver: a result that reaches 80% of the initial goal is better received when the working dynamic is good. And that trust runs both ways.

A concrete case: Clinique Notre-Dame de Grâce
Gauthier worked, in collaboration with CoCeptio, on the HVAC systems of Clinique Notre-Dame de Grâce (CNDG). Analyzing the fans, heating and cooling coils, and the overall operation of the systems made it possible to identify several energy optimization levers: a night mode, a correction to the coil regulation, and greater use of outside air for cooling.
At this stage, these gains remain identified potential, a PoC result, not yet validated in operation. The next step is to automate this work of identifying and estimating gains directly within the Indao software.

Even before officially starting, Gauthier had been invited to a team-building event at Indao. An afternoon spent with about twenty colleagues he hadn't yet met. That's when, he says, he knew he wanted to join the team. A feeling that, two years later, hasn't changed.
His advice to anyone joining Indao today?
"Be prepared to have fun."
